LG Professionals SA is the peak not-for-profit association representing professionals across South Australia’s local government sector. With a clear mission to develop and connect people, they play a vital role in building capability, fostering collaboration and strengthening the sector for the future.
Through a suite of highly regarded leadership programs, short courses and Networks, they create opportunities for people to step back from the day-to-day, grow their capability and build meaningful connections across councils and subsidiaries statewide.
You’ll be joining a passionate, high-performing and close-knit team who genuinely enjoy what they do - and have a bit of fun along the way.
So, what’s the role?
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this is a key role at the heart of LG Professionals SA’s impact across the sector.
You’ll take the lead in shaping and delivering professional development programs that build capability, confidence and connection - ensuring offerings remain relevant, engaging and aligned to emerging sector needs.
At the same time, you’ll oversee a portfolio of established networks, working closely with Network Chairs and committees to coordinate content, facilitate forums and keep engagement strong.
It’s a role that strikes the balance between strategy and delivery - where you’ll be thinking ahead, spotting opportunities and rolling up your sleeves to bring programs and network activities to life. If you enjoy variety, autonomy and working with people, you’ll thrive here.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and ensuring smooth delivery of engaging professional development programs, including leadership programs, short courses and in house training
- Identifying training needs and evolving programs in line with sector trends and feedback
- Coordinating and facilitating network forums that bring people together and drive real value
- Building strong relationships with facilitators, speakers and network committees
- Managing end-to-end program delivery - from concept through to execution
- Keeping multiple priorities on track, ensuring everything runs smoothly and to a high standard
What’s in it for you?
- A genuine opportunity to make a visible impact across the local government sector
- A broad, varied role that blends strategic thinking with hands-on delivery
- The chance to build strong relationships and networks across councils and subsidiaries statewide
- A collaborative, close-knit team who support each other and enjoy working together
- Flexible working arrangements
- Monthly social activities (because culture matters)
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in learning and development, training, professional development or program delivery
- Exposure to the not-for-profit and/or local government sectors will be well regarded
- Highly organised, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
- Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
- Tech savvy, comfortable working across systems, data and communications
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a genuine passion for developing people
