City of Unley are expanding their Marketing and Communications team and looking to recruit a full-time Digital Content Creator. If you’re a digital storyteller who sees content as more than just pixels and posts—this could be your next career move. At the City of Unley, you’ll use your digital skills to craft meaningful, multi-platform content that brings our city’s people, places and programs to life.
Who’s hiring?
The City of Unley is five minutes from the Adelaide CBD, known for its leafy streets, inclusive and connected programs, and that warm, community feel. But here’s what you might not know: we’re also home to one of the most dynamic comms teams in local government. We’re bold, creative, values-led—and we care deeply about doing work that actually matters. Now, we’re on the lookout for a Digital Content Creator to help us bring the City of Unley’s stories to life across web, social, video and more. If you’ve got a creative eye, a way with words, and the kind of brain that gets excited about analytics dashboards (go on, admit it)—keep reading.
So, what’s the role?
As our new Digital Content Creator, you’ll be the go-to person for creating the digital content that connects our community. From short-form videos and social media posts to e-newsletters, reels and digital signage—you’ll create content that feels fresh, purposeful and human. You’ll also help keep our website and intranet up to date, monitor what’s working (and what’s not), and bring a user-first lens to everything we publish. You won’t be doing it alone—you’ll be part of a smart, supportive team that values collaboration and creativity.
Here’s what a typical day in the role might look like:
- Creating short, snackable video content, social media posts and website stories that inform and inspire
- Designing and delivering content for our e-newsletters, intranet, and digital screens
- Telling our city’s stories—through photography, reels, article posts and behind-the-scenes glimpses of life in Unley
- Keeping the City of Unley’s website and intranet current, user-friendly, and helpful
- Partnering with teams across Council to uncover the small moments and big milestones worth sharing
- Monitoring analytics to help us figure out what’s hitting the mark (and what needs a rethink)
- Staying curious about what’s trending, what’s changing, and how we can be better digital storytellers every day
You’re creative. You’re curious. And you’ve got a soft spot for work that matters. You’re not afraid of deadlines or juggling projects, and you love figuring out how to make content sing—whether it's an Instagram reel, a newsletter, or a blog post.
Technically speaking, you’re someone who:
- Knows how to create short-form, engaging digital content that lands (and gets shared)
- Is confident shooting and editing video, with experience using tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or similar
- Has basic graphic design skills (you and Canva are very close)
- Writes sharp, audience-friendly copy and can adapt tone across platforms
- Understands content performance and loves diving into the data to see what’s working
- Has a degree in digital media, multimedia production, communications or something similar
- Thrives in a creative, collaborative environment where no two days look the same
- Know your way around analytics tools like GA4 or Hotjar
- Have experience in podcasting, livestreaming or AR/VR content
- Have dabbled in animation, motion graphics or interactive media (bonus points for After Effects!)
- Have experience managing digital content for community-focused orgs or government
- A full-time role where you’ll flex your creativity, storytelling skills and digital know-how
- A chance to make meaningful work for a council that truly values its people (and its community)
- A fast-paced, supportive team that celebrates bold ideas and enjoys coming to work each day
- The opportunity to shape the City of Unley’s digital presence—and see your work out in the world
- Ongoing professional development and growth (yes, we’re looking at you, future Digital Comms Manager)
